Hoopla!, a free mini-festival for children under four and their families, is coming to Vicar Water Country Park on Saturday 15 August. Running from 11am to 3pm, Hoopla! promises a fun-packed day of music, performance, puppetry, and art.Kids can explore their senses with colourful textile world The Delights and play percussion instruments across the park with musician Tatenda Chitsamba. They can try their hand at a variety of creative arts and play activities, such as our nature print workshop with artist Amelia Daiz, or join an interactive circus skills experience with the team from the Nottingham Circus Hub.Families can watch a caterpillar transform into a beautiful butterfly in The Butterfly House, a brand-new puppet show from Handmade Theatre, or meet Charlotte Orhard, The Dragon Keeper, and her dragon puppet friends.Councillor Rowan Cozens, Deputy Leader of Newark and Sherwood District Council and Portfolio Holder for Heritage, Culture, and the Arts, said of the event: “Dragons, music, playtime and adventure, right on our doorstep!“We’re so pleased to be bringing Hoopla! and the magic of puppetry and performance to our district. Days like these not only create wonderful memories but can inspire a lifelong love of creativity and the arts.”Suzannah Bedford, Director of City Arts, said: "We're excited to bring Hoopla! to Clipstone for the first time. It's a wonderful opportunity for local families with young children to enjoy a free day of creativity, play and performance together, and we look forward to welcoming everyone to Vicar Water Country Park.”Hoopla! is a partnership between our Open Doors programme and the Nottingham-based charity City Arts. Delivered by Newark and Sherwood District Council and funded by Arts Council England, Open Doors runs free creative activities across the district. Based at the National Civil War Centre and the Palace Theatre, Newark, the programme has delivered activities for all ages across museums, libraries, schools, theatres, and more.City Arts Nottingham is a charity working to connect people with art, culture, and creativity. The charity brings free, high-quality art to the people and communities of Nottingham, in the places where they live. It works to make culture accessible to everyone.Hoopla! is free, but booking is required. If anyone has any old photos or memories they'd like to share about the Major Oak we'd love to hear from you.
